The St. Joseph's Carmel Educational & Charitable Trust of CMI, registered on September 13, 2012, owns and operates the Carmel College of Engineering & Technology (CCET). The institution was founded in 2014–15 at Punnapra, Alappuzha, by a Public Charitable Trust with the goal of educating everyone in the field of engineering and technology. Our mission statement is to create Engineers of the Highest Quality, with Integrity, Commitment, and Human Values, who are capable of meeting the highest standards in business, industry, and research, and who will serve as social change agents.
The only engineering college offering undergraduate level courses in the Province of St. Joseph, Thiruvananthapuram is Carmel College of Engineering & Technology, Punnapra, which is run by St. Joseph's Carmel Educational & Charitable Trust of CMI. Carmel College of Engineering and Technology, a self-financing institution accredited by the AICTE and affiliated with the University of Kerala, offers four-year B.Tech programs in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, and computer science engineering.
