Sri Jayachamarajendra College Of Engineering, founded in 1963, is the brainchild of Sri Suttur Mutt's 23rd pontiff, Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru. It is run by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which is the parent organisation for a number of similar colleges. Dr. T.M.A.Pai, the acclaimed founder of Manipal Institutes and the then chairman of the academy of education in Manipal, Mysore State, officially inaugurated the college. With its huge 117-acre campus and various distinctive structures, the Institution is a notable landmark in the western section of Mysore.
