SCNR Government Degree College is situated in Proddatur of Andhra Pradesh state (Province) in India.The S.C.N.R. Government Degree College, affiliated to Sree Venkateswara University, Tirupathi was established in 1966 as a co-education Degree college. The college campus is spread over an area of 10 acres. The student strength of the college is 789. The college offers 7 academic programmes : B.A. (H.E.P.), B.Com Regular, B.Com (Computer Applications), B.Sc. (M.P.C-Telugu Medium), B.Sc. The college came to existence with the objective of creating a centre of learning and excellence. It came into existence in 1966 with Pre-University courses in the building of Basic training School. This was the 2nd college to be established in Kadapa District. This government college was Christened as S.C. Nagireddy Government Degree College after the late Sri S.C.NagiReddy , who made a magnanimous donation of Rs Two lakhs. In 1967 three year degree courses were started with B.A, B.Com and B.Sc.(M.P.C.) and B.Sc. (B.Z.C) courses. In 1998 re-structured B.Sc. (Computer Science) and B.Com. (Computer Applications) were introduced. The college is situated in a semi-urban area and is spread over 10 acres of land and has gradually grown into a premier institution of learning with 789 students [under 7 UG programmes], 20 permanent Lecturers, 12 contract and 2 guest faculty and 20 non-teaching staff. Instead of just increasing the student enrollment, it has strived during the past to attain the eminence. This affiliated government college secured recognisation of UGC in 1969 under 2(f) and 12(B).
