The oldest and most fascinating science, astronomy, is concerned with all celestial bodies and the material cosmos outside the earth's atmosphere. It is the study of motion, nature, law, constitution, history, and possible future developments of celestial bodies such as the sun, planets, stars, comets, meteors, galaxies, satellites, and so on.

Astronomy, which is sometimes regarded a subfield of Physics, is separated into various fields, including Astrophysics, Astro meteorology, Astrobiology, Astrogeology, Astrometry, and Cosmology are the branches which work together to help solve questions of universe. It's an exciting and rewarding professional path for people who are fascinated by the secrets of the universe and want to solve them. The demand for specialists in the field of astronomy is growing as each country embarks on nuclear testing.

Galileo, Sir Isaac Newton are some of the renowned astronomers. Career in astronomy involves working in labs for long hours, means having attention without wavering of the mind requiring strong work ethic. It’s quite challenging required never say die attitude. Career in astronomy is quite challenging and rewarding with private players like Elon Musk of Tesla, Jeff Bazzos of Amazon entering space exploration.

Interested students who want to build their career in astronomy should take up mathematics in their 10 + 2. Post that they can pursue their Engineering in space technology and proceed to do their M.Tech in astronomy and further do their Ph.D. Alternatively other students can do their Bachelor of Science /B.Sc with Physics. Post completion they can do their Masters in Astro Physics and Astronomy and further do their Doctoral. Indian Institute of Space & Technology, Indian Institute of Science, certain IITs and certain institutes offer graduate and post graduate courses in astronomy and astro – physics.
