The CISF, also known as the Central Industrial Security Force, is a multi-skilled security agency that was founded in 1969 with the mission of providing security to the country's key important infrastructure sites in various areas. It is one of India's specialized Central Paramilitary Forces, with its headquarters in New Delhi, and is the world's largest industrial security unit.
The provide security to Nuclear installations, space institutions, airports, seaports, power plants, important government buildings, and ever historical monuments. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, VIP Security, Disaster Management, and the construction of a UN Formed Police Unit (FPU) in Haiti are among the significant responsibilities allocated to the CISF.
CISF with its fire division protects industrial undertakings/installations against fire threats in addition to providing protection, safety, and security.CISF has a highly specialized, trained, and well equipped fire wing that is responsible for the fire protection and prevention services of 77 units, totaling roughly 5000 well-trained personnel.
The CISF is 5000 strong force with headquartered in New Delhi and is headed by Director General. They have 3 branches, Executive branch, Fire service branch and Ministerial branch with Supervisory officers heading each of these branches. There are 6 sectors situated in different cities of India and headed by Sector Inspector Generals.
CISF offer job opportunities from 10th grade to graduation and other medical professions. 10th graduates can join as Constables, 10 + 2 passed are hired as Head Constables, and post training they will be posted across locations. Graduates are hired as Assistant Sub Inspectors and Commandants through UPSC examinations conducted at different locations. Working or retired professionals in police and armed forces can be hired for senior positions.
