The Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur, was founded on November 3rd, 2009, in accordance with Madhya Pradesh Act No. 16 of 2009, the Nanaji Deshmukh Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwa Vidyalaya Adhiniyam, with the following goals:
to disseminate education in various veterinary, fishery, and allied fields as the university sees fit.
To support the development of knowledge and the conduct of research in veterinary and fishery sciences, as well as,
to extend these sciences to rural populations in collaboration with the relevant government departments.
The University has three constituent veterinary colleges in Jabalpur, Mhow, and Rewa, as well as an animal biotechnology centre and a centre for wildlife forensic and health in Jabalpur.
