The Ministry of Human Resource and Development built the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai in the state of Chhattisgarh in 2016.
IIT Bhilai is currently housed at the Government Engineering College (GEC) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, as a transit campus.
In several departments, IIT Bhilai provides Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (M.Sc), and Doctoral programs (PhD). In August 2016, the Institute made a modest start by introducing a B.Tech program. B.Tech and M.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering are currently available, as well as PhD programs in Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.
