Charles Chaudhary Singh One of Asia's largest agricultural universities, Haryana Agricultural University, or HAU for short, is situated in the Indian state of Haryana near Hisar. It bears Chaudhary Charan Singh's name, the seventh Prime Minister of India. It is a pioneer in Indian agricultural research and made a significant contribution to the White and Green Revolutions in India in the 1960s and 1970s. It has a sizable campus and numerous research centres spread out around the state. It received the Best Institute Award from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 1997. The first HAU campus was in Ludhiana at the Punjab Agricultural University. After Haryana was established in 1966, it was given autonomy on February 2, 1970, thanks to a Presidential Ordinance that was later enacted by the Lok Sabha in March 1970 as the Haryana and Punjab Agricultural Universities Act.
