Nanak Dev Jagat Guru As the first Open University in the state of Punjab, Punjab State Open University, Patiala was founded by State Legislature Act No. 19 of 2019. Through its vast network of 80 Learner Support Centers, the University aims to provide new opportunities for those seeking education and employment. JGND PSOU has been reaching out to students in prison, rural and isolated locations, PwD, and SC/ST learners because it believes in providing education for everyone. By emphasising a learner-centered approach to teaching and learning and encouraging online and digital mode of programme delivery, JGND PSOU has put into practise many of the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) of the Government of India. The university is moving forward with the introduction of new skill-based UG/PG degrees.
The university has full-time faculty in each of its six schools of study and is a multidisciplinary institution. All individuals who desire to pursue higher education will be provided with high quality, creative, accessible, and need-based programmes by universities.
