Mangalore, the capital of Dakshina Kannada's coastal district and a significant centre of education, business, and trade in the state. Sri. U. Srinivasa Mallya, a visionary and philanthropist, made a substantial contribution to the development of Karnataka's coastal region, with his attempt to build KREC (now NITK) being the most notable. Srinivasnagar is the name of the campus, which was named after him in honour of his contribution as the institute's founder and architect.
