About

Georgia Southern University is already moving and prepared for more with close to 26,000 students, about 140 distinct degree programmes, three campuses, and a singular vision of growing others. Our lovely campuses may appear spotless due to the old brick streets or moss-covered oak trees, but there is actually a lot of roll-up-your-sleeves work going on here. Impact on communities is the subject of research. Students are the main focus of instruction. The students are also thinking about their future.

On December 1, 1906, delegates from Statesboro, Georgia, travelled to the DeSoto Hotel in Savannah and made the winning proposal to establish the First District Agricultural School, which would be based in Statesboro. This action laid the groundwork for this can-do attitude. Armstrong Junior College was founded at the storied Armstrong House in Savannah just 29 years later and a few streets away on Bull Street.

Both schools were established to benefit their localities, improve their allure to enterprises, and provide inhabitants with greater employment opportunities. Because teachers, staff, benefactors, and partners saw something remarkable about these schools that warranted their expansion, both institutions grew. As educational investments in southeast Georgia produced opportunities for our graduates, lives and communities underwent transformations.

Georgia Southern is now the largest and most comprehensive centre of higher learning in the state south of I-20 and operates as a single university. Georgia Southern, a public Carnegie Doctoral/R2 university with bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programmes, has three active campuses: the Statesboro Campus, the Armstrong Campus in Savannah, and the Liberty Campus in Hinesville. Georgia Southern's highly recognised academic programmes incorporate a significant amount of practical experience so that our alumni are prepared as soon as they graduate. The University, a part of the University System of Georgia, has more than 300 student groups, excellent Division I athletics, cutting-edge residence halls, and cutting-edge campus infrastructure.

The University has been known for its culture of engagement, which links theory and practise, expands the learning environment outside of the classroom, and fosters student development and life success, since its founding in 1906. The faculty's commitment to excellent teaching and the creation of a stimulating learning environment, exemplified by a free interchange of ideas, high academic standards, and individual responsibility for academic accomplishment, is at the heart of the university's mission. The basic values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, honesty, openness and inclusivity, and sustainability are shared by faculty, staff, and students.
